In 1991 Dodge released the Dakota S to the truck-buying market. The Dakota came in five configurations: Base, LE, S, SE, and Sport. The S configuration is powered by the 3.9-liter six-cylinder engine, which makes 27 highway miles and 21 city. The Dakota competes in the Standard Cab Pickup market segment, in direct competition with Kia.
