As time has gone by several things can be said about the Chevrolet Silverado 3500 series: including the strong reaction most buyers have towards their truck. The 8-cylinder engine is at the core of the strong emotions, it is reliable for its class and delivers a huge amount of torque.
The restyled Silverado 3500 LS is equipped with a 6.6-liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 32 valves. The Duramax engine is mated to a General Motors four-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2001 version.

The 2001 Silverado 3500 is an important vehicle to Chevrolet for the cab & chassis market segment. The LS is a member of a series of three trim levels for the Silverado 3500 which include Base, LS, and LT. The two-door truck with its four-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Chevrolet. There is strong competition from vehicles from Nissan.
