In 1999 Chevrolet released the S10 LS to the truck-buying market. The S10 came in four configurations: Xtreme, LS, ZR2, and Base. The LS configuration is powered by the 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine, which makes 20 highway miles and 16 city. The S10 competes in the Extended Cab Pickup market segment, in direct competition with Honda.

Chevrolet S10 Engine Specs

The restyled S10 LS is equipped with a General Motors 2.2-liter 4-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 8 valves. The Vortec engine is paired with a General Motors 4-speed transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The S10 has power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The truck uses coil front springs and leaf in the rear.

The fuel system for the 1999 S10 is a SFI design, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 25.00 gallons.

Vehicle Statistics

The S10 is 189.80 inches long, 77.50 inches wide, and 75.20 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 111.20 inches. It is able to seat 2 comfortably.

The standard warranty period for the S10 is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 36 months or 36,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the extended cab pickup market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

The listed retail price in 1999 (MSRP) was $22,125, with an invoice cost of $20,023. This price is above average of the industry average price for a two-door Extended Cab Pickup.

Fuel Efficiency

The S10 LS received a miles-per-gallon rating of sixteen in-city driving and twenty when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green truck, this was exceptional.

In 1998 and 1999 the S10 LS was availble in the exterior colors of Dark Copper Metallic, Dark Forest Green Metallic, Ivory White, Light Carmine Red Metallic, Light Autumnwood Metallic, Light Autumwood Metallic, Medium Bronzemist Metallic, Medium Cadet Blue Metallic, Medium Charcoal Gray Metallic, Silvermist Metallic, and Teal Blue Metallic. Additional options were made available by the factory.

We Think...

The 1998 model began the promise of the Chevrolet S10. The 1999 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the S10 LS will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

The S10 ZR2 is equipped with a General Motors 4.3 liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 12 valves. The Vortec engine is mated to a General Motors 4-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The S10 uses power-assisted brakes, with 2-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and leaf in the rear.

Statistics

The S10 is 186.80 inches long, 77.50 inches wide, and 76.10 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 111.00 inches. It is able to seat 1 comfortably.

The standard warranty period for the S10 is 60* months, or 50,000* miles, whichever comes first. There is also a warranty on the powertrain for 36* months or 50,000* miles respectively. This is standard in the standard cab pickup market.

The listed retail price in 1994 (MSRP) was $16,064, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-high price. This price is on target the industry average price for a two-door Standard Cab Pickup.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 1994 S10 is a Central MFI design, using gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is controlled by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The fuel capacity of the fuel tank is 27.00 gallons.

The 1994 S10 gets 22 miles/gallon on the highway and only 17 in the city. This is subpar for a standard cab pickup truck.

What We Think of the Chevrolet S10

The 1994 model year was very successful for the Chevrolet S10. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the ZR2 version) meant that buyers could find the version that best suited their needs.

The 2002 S10 is an important vehicle to Chevrolet for the crew cab pickup market segment. The ZR5 is a member of a series of five trim levels for the S10 which include Xtreme, LS, ZR2, ZR5, and Base. The four-door truck with its four-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Chevrolet. There is strong competition from vehicles from Honda.

2002 Chevrolet S10 ZR5 Specs

The S10 ZR5 is equipped with a General Motors 2.2 liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 8 valves. The Vortec engine is mated to a General Motors 4-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The S10 comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The truck uses torsion bar front springs and leaf in the rear.

The fuel system for the 2002 S10 is a SFI system, running on FLEX . The fuel is regulated by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 27.00 gallons.

S10 ZR5 Statistics

The S10 is 189.80 inches long, 77.50 inches wide, and 75.00 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 111.20 inches. It is able to seat 8 comfortably.

There is a 36,000 mile, 36 month warranty with this vehicle, including a powertrain warranty of 36,000/36 miles/months. This is normal for this price range.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $24,145 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $21,851. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Crew Cab Pickup.

Fuel Efficiency

The S10 ZR5 received a miles-per-gallon rating of fifteen in-city driving and twenty when it came to long-distance. Being a flex-powered green truck, this was subpar.

In 2001 and 2002 the S10 ZR5 was availble in the exterior colors of Dark Carmine Red Metallic, Dark Carmine Red Metallic/Light Autumnwood Metallic, Dark Carmine Red Metallic/Light Pewter Metallic, Dark Forest Green Metallic/Light Autumnwood Metallic, Dark Forest Green Metallic/Light Pewter Metallic, Ivory White, Ivory White/Light Autumnwood Metallic, Ivory White/Light Pewter Metallic, Light Autumnwood Metallic, Light Carmine Red Metallic/Light Autumnwood Metallic, Light Carmine Red Metallic/Light Pewter Metallic, Light Pewter Metallic, Medium Bronzemist Metallic/Light Pewter Metallic, Medium Cadet Blue Metallic/Light Autumnwood Metallic, Medium Cadet Blue Metallic/Light Pewter Metallic, Medium Charcoal Gray Metallic/Light Pewter Metallic, Teal Blue Metallic, Teal Blue Metallic/Light Autumnwood Metallic, and Teal Blue Metallic/Light Pewter Metallic. Additional options were made available by the factory.

Conclusion

There are several reasons why the Chevrolet S10 ZR5 sold well in 2002. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Chevrolet, specifically a S10.

Frequently you will find that buyers of the Chevrolet S10 are very excited about their new truck. The S10 has held a place among the top of the S10 line of truck for a long time. It is an important automobile, and the 1996 model is no different in that respect. The Chevrolet S10 comes under the heading of standard cab pickup models that are fun to drive.

Chevrolet S10 Engine Specs

The restyled S10 SS is equipped with a General Motors 4.3-liter 6-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 12 valves. The Vortec engine is paired with a General Motors 4-speed transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.

The S10 uses power-assisted brakes, with 2-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The truck uses coil and leaf springs front and rear respectively.

The fuel system for the 1996 S10 is a traditional Central MFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 27.00 gallons.

Vehicle Statistics

The dimensions of the S10 SS are 77.50 inches wide by 189.80 inches long. It sits a comfortable 75.90 inches off the ground. It seats a standard two passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 111.00 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.

The standard warranty period for the S10 is 60* months, or 50,000* miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the standard cab pickup market.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $18,592 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-high price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Standard Cab Pickup.

Fuel Efficiency

The 1996 S10 gets 22 miles/gallon on the highway and only 17 in the city. This is exceptional for a standard cab pickup truck.

The vehicle is available in several colors.

We Think...

There are several reasons why the Chevrolet S10 SS sold well in 1996. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Chevrolet, specifically a S10.

The 1996 Chevrolet S10 SS was introduced to compete in the standard cab pickup market. The SS is a member of a series of four trim levels for the S10 which include ZR2, SS, LS, and Base. The two-door truck with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Chevrolet. There is strong competition from vehicles from Infiniti.

Chevrolet S10 Engine Specs

Chevrolet S10 Engine Specs: The S10 SS comes outfitted with a Vortec 4.3 liter, 6-cylinder motor that uses 12 valves. The engine, manufactured by General Motors, is teamed up with a General Motors 4-speed transmission. This arrangement has demonstrated to be an effective style for Chevrolet.

The fuel system for the 1996 S10 is a Central MFI design, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 27.00 gallons.

The S10 uses power-assisted brakes, with 2-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The truck uses coil and leaf springs front and rear respectively.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $18,592 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-high price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Standard Cab Pickup.

There is a 50,000* mile, 60* month warranty with this vehicle, including a powertrain warranty of 50,000*/36* miles/months. This is normal for this price range.

Fuel Efficiency

The S10 SS received a miles-per-gallon rating of seventeen in-city driving and twenty two when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green truck, this was exceptional.

Conclusion

There are several reasons why the Chevrolet S10 SS sold well in 1996. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Chevrolet, specifically a S10.

The Chevrolet S10 is a 2-door truck available at your Chevrolet dealer. The S10 came in four configurations: ZR2, SS, LS, and Base. The LS configuration is powered by the 4.3-liter six-cylinder engine, which makes 22 highway miles and 17 city. The S10 competes in the Extended Cab Pickup market segment, in direct competition with Toyota.

Chevrolet S10 Engine Specs

Standard equipment in the S10 for 1995 and 1996 includes the 4.3 liter engine by General Motors, weighing in at 6 cylinders and twelve valves. A 4-speed Automatic Transmission puts the power of the Vortec engine to the pavement. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Extended Cab Pickup arena.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The S10 uses power-assisted brakes, with 2-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and leaf in the rear.

The fuel system for the 1996 S10 is a traditional Central MFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 27.00 gallons.

Vehicle Statistics

The S10 is 189.80 inches long, 77.50 inches wide, and 75.90 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 111.00 inches. It is able to seat 2 comfortably.

There is a 50,000* mile, 60* month warranty with this vehicle, including a powertrain warranty of 50,000*/36* miles/months. This is normal for this price range.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $18,592 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-average price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Extended Cab Pickup.

MPG Ratings

The 1996 S10 gets 22 miles/gallon on the highway and only 17 in the city. This is subpar for a extended cab pickup truck.

In 1995 and 1996 the S10 LS was availble in the exterior colors of several colors. Additional options were available as special orders from the factory.

What We Think of the Chevrolet S10

The 1996 model year was telling year for the Chevrolet S10. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the LS version) meant that buyers could find the version that best suited their needs.

The restyled S10 ZR5 is equipped with a 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 8 valves. The Vortec engine is mated to a General Motors four-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2002 version.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The S10 comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The truck uses torsion bar front springs and leaf in the rear.

Statistics

The S10 is 189.80 inches long, 77.50 inches wide, and 75.00 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 111.20 inches. It is able to seat 2 comfortably.

There is a 36,000 mile, 36 month warranty with this vehicle, including a powertrain warranty of 36,000/36 miles/months. This is normal for this price range.

The listed retail price in 2003 (MSRP) was $22,050, with a dealer invoice cost of $19,955. This price is on target the industry average price for a four-door Crew Cab Pickup.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 2003 S10 is a traditional SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 27.00 gallons.

The 2003 S10 gets 23 miles/gallon on the highway and only 17 in the city. This is subpar for a crew cab pickup truck.

What We Think of the Chevrolet S10

The 2002 model began the promise of the Chevrolet S10. The 2003 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the S10 ZR5 will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

The 1999 S10 is an important vehicle to Chevrolet for the extended cab pickup market segment. The ZR2 is a member of a series of four trim levels for the S10 which include Xtreme, LS, ZR2, and Base. The two-door truck with its four-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Chevrolet. There is strong competition from vehicles from Kia.

Chevrolet S10 Engine Specs

The S10 ZR2 is equipped with a General Motors 2.2 liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 8 valves. The Vortec engine is mated to a General Motors 4-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The S10 has power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The truck uses torsion bar front springs and leaf in the rear.

S10 ZR2 Statistics

The S10 is 189.80 inches long, 77.50 inches wide, and 75.20 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 111.20 inches. It is able to seat 2 comfortably.

The listed retail price in 1999 (MSRP) was $22,125, with an invoice cost of $20,023. This price is above average of the industry average price for a two-door Extended Cab Pickup.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 1999 S10 is a traditional SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 25.00 gallons.

The S10 ZR2 received a miles-per-gallon rating of sixteen in-city driving and twenty when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid truck, this was subpar.

Conclusion

There are several reasons why the Chevrolet S10 ZR2 sold well in 1999. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Chevrolet, specifically a S10.

The 1994 S10 is an important vehicle to Chevrolet for the standard cab pickup market segment. The Base is a member of a series of four trim levels for the S10 which include ZR2, SS, LS, and Base. The two-door truck with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Chevrolet. There is strong competition from vehicles from Nissan.

Engine Performance

The S10 Base is equipped with a General Motors 2.2 liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 8 valves. The Vortec engine is mated to a General Motors 4-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.

The S10 uses power-assisted brakes, with 2-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The truck uses coil and leaf springs front and rear respectively.

S10 Base Statistics

The S10 is 186.80 inches long, 77.50 inches wide, and 76.10 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 111.00 inches. It is able to seat 1 comfortably.

The listed retail price in 1994 (MSRP) was $16,064, with an invoice cost of an industry-high price. This price is slightly higher than the industry average price for a two-door Standard Cab Pickup.

Fuel Efficiency

Fuel is handled for the S10 is a MPI design, running on gasoline fuel. The gasoline is handled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 27.00 gallons.

The S10 Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of seventeen in-city driving and twenty two when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green truck, this was subpar.

In Summary

There are several reasons why the Chevrolet S10 Base sold well in 1994. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Chevrolet, specifically a S10.
