Improving on 1994′s Model: The 1995 S10 Revisited

One of the staples of the Standard Cab Pickup segment is the Chevrolet S10. In the previous model year released a brand new version of the S10 with four versions: ZR2, SS, LS, and Base. Sales for the S10, especially the S10 Base, were brisk during 1995 and 1996. The improved vehicle quality and the classic styling were responsible for the sales boost.

Chevrolet S10 Engine Specs

Chevrolet S10 Engine Specs: The S10 Base comes outfitted with a Vortec 2.2 liter, 4-cylinder motor that uses 8 valves. The engine, manufactured by General Motors, is teamed up with a General Motors 4-speed transmission. This arrangement has demonstrated to be an effective style for Chevrolet.

The S10 uses power-assisted brakes, with 2-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The truck uses coil and leaf springs front and rear respectively.

Vehicle Statistics

The dimensions of the S10 Base are 77.50 inches wide by 189.80 inches long. It sits a comfortable 75.90 inches off the ground. It seats a standard five passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 111.00 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $20,588 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-average price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Standard Cab Pickup.

Fuel Efficiency

The 1995 S10's traditional fuel system runs on gas. The fuel is regulated electronically, with a fuel-injected multi-port fuel injection style of design. The fuel tank holds 27.00 gallons.

The S10 Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of fifteen in-city driving and nineteen when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green truck, this was exceptional.

We Think...

The 1994 model began the promise of the Chevrolet S10. The 1995 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the S10 Base will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
