Not Your Father’s K2500 – The 1997 Chevrolet K2500 Silverado
The restyled K2500 Silverado is equipped with a 5.7-liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Vortec engine is mated to a New Venture five-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 1996 version.
The K2500 uses power-assisted brakes, with 2-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The truck uses torsion bar and leaf springs front and rear respectively.
