One of the staples of the Standard Cab Pickup segment is the Chevrolet K2500. In the previous model year debuted a brand new version of the K2500 with two versions: LS and Base. Sales for the K2500, especially the K2500 LS, were brisk during 2000 and 2001. The improved vehicle quality and the modern styling were responsible for the boost in sales.

Performance

Chevrolet K2500 Engine Specs: The K2500 LS comes outfitted with a Vortec 5.7 liter, 8-cylinder motor that uses 16 valves. The engine, manufactured by General Motors, is teamed up with a General Motors 4-speed transmission. This arrangement has demonstrated to be an effective style for Chevrolet.

The K2500 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The truck uses torsion bar and leaf springs front and rear respectively.

The 2000 K2500's normal fuel system runs on gas. The fuel is regulated electronically, with a fuel-injected multi-port fuel injection (MFI) style of design. The fuel tank holds 27.00 gallons.

The K2500 is 189.80 inches long, 77.50 inches wide, and 75.30 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 111.20 inches. It is able to seat 2 comfortably.

The standard warranty period for the K2500 is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 36 months or 36,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the standard cab pickup market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $20,240 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $18,317. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Standard Cab Pickup.

Fuel Efficiency

The K2500 LS received a miles-per-gallon rating of sixteen in-city driving and twenty one when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green truck, this was subpar.

In 1999 and 2000 the K2500 LS was availble in the exterior colors of Dark Copper Metallic, Dark Forest Green Metallic, Ivory White, Light Autumnwood Metallic, Light Carmine Red Metallic, Medium Bronzemist Metallic, Medium Cadet Blue Metallic, Medium Charcoal Gray Metallic, Silvermist Metallic, and Teal Blue Metallic.
