In 1999 Chevrolet released the K2500 LS to the truck-buying market. The K2500 came in two configurations: LS and Base. The LS configuration is powered by the 5.7-liter eight-cylinder engine, which makes 20 highway miles and 16 city. The K2500 competes in the Standard Cab Pickup market segment, in direct competition with Honda.

The restyled K2500 LS is equipped with a General Motors 5.7-liter 8-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 16 valves. The Vortec engine is paired with a New Venture 5-speed transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.

The K2500 uses power-assisted brakes, with 2-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The truck uses torsion bar and leaf springs front and rear respectively.

The fuel system for the 1999 K2500 is a Central SFI design, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 25.00 gallons.

The K2500 is 189.80 inches long, 77.50 inches wide, and 75.20 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 111.20 inches. It is able to seat 2 comfortably.

The standard warranty period for the K2500 is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the standard cab pickup market.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $22,125 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $20,023. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Standard Cab Pickup.

Fuel Efficiency

The K2500 LS received a miles-per-gallon rating of sixteen in-city driving and twenty when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green truck, this was exceptional.

The vehicle is available in Dark Copper Metallic, Dark Forest Green Metallic, Ivory White, Light Carmine Red Metallic, Light Autumnwood Metallic, Light Autumwood Metallic, Medium Bronzemist Metallic, Medium Cadet Blue Metallic, Medium Charcoal Gray Metallic, Silvermist Metallic, and Teal Blue Metallic.

The 1998 model began the promise of the Chevrolet K2500. The 1999 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the K2500 LS will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

    I saw the recent news about Chevrolets and their reliability. I personally would check out web sites like edmunds.com and others before I made a choice of a truck like the K2500.
