A Better 1998′s Model: The 1999 Chevrolet K2500 Base
The K2500 Base is equipped with a General Motors 6.5 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The engine is mated to a General Motors 4-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.
Steering control is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The K2500 has power-assisted brakes, with 2-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. The truck uses torsion bar front springs and leaf in the rear.

The standard warranty period for the K2500 is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 36 months or 36,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the cab & chassis market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.
The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $22,125 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $20,023. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Cab & Chassis.
Fuel Efficiency
The 1999 K2500's traditional fuel system runs on diesel. The fuel is regulated electronically, with a fuel-injected multi-port fuel injection style of design. The fuel tank holds 25.00 gallons.
The K2500 Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of sixteen in-city driving and twenty when it came to long-distance. Being a diesel-powered non-green truck, this was exceptional.

No one is going to think that this is going to be a good buy 10 years from now.
There’s no doubt that Chevrolet is up to it’s old tricks with the K2500? I’m hoping next year’s example is improved.
