As time has gone by several things can be said about the Dodge Ram 3500 series: including the strong reaction most buyers have towards their truck. The 8-cylinder engine is at the core of the strong emotions, it is reliable for its class and delivers a huge amount of torque.

Performance

The Ram 3500 SLT is equipped with a Chrysler 5.7 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The HEMI engine is mated to a Chrysler 6-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Dodge.

The Ram 3500 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The truck uses coil and leaf springs front and rear respectively.

The 2008 Ram 3500's normal fuel system runs on gas. The fuel is regulated electronically, with a fuel-injected multi-port fuel injection (MFI) style of design. The fuel tank holds 34.00 gallons.

The Ram 3500 is 247.70 inches long, 79.50 inches wide, and 74.50 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 160.50 inches. It is able to seat 6 comfortably.

The standard warranty period for the Ram 3500 is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 36 months or 36,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the crew cab pickup market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $45,835 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $40,258. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Crew Cab Pickup.

Fuel Efficiency

The Ram 3500 SLT received a miles-per-gallon rating of seventeen in-city driving and twenty three when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green truck, this was exceptional.

The 2007 model began the promise of the Dodge Ram 3500. The 2008 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Dodge hopes that the Ram 3500 SLT will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
