The Ford Expedition EL XLT for 2008

Ford Expedition

The restyled Expedition EL XLT is equipped with a Ford 5.4-liter 8-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 24 valves. The Triton engine is paired with a ZF 6-speed transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ford.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Expedition has power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The truck uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

Vehicle Statistics

The Expedition is 221.30 inches long, 78.80 inches wide, and 77.70 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 131.00 inches. It is able to seat 8 comfortably.

The standard warranty period for the Expedition is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 60 months or 60,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the sport utility market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $39,015 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $35,738. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sport Utility.

Fuel Efficiency

The 2008 Expedition's traditional fuel system runs on gas. The fuel is regulated electronically, with a fuel-injected multi-port fuel injection style of design. The fuel tank holds 33.50 gallons.

The Expedition EL XLT received a miles-per-gallon rating of seventeen in-city driving and twenty three when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green truck, this was exceptional.

We Think...

The 2007 model began the promise of the Ford Expedition. The 2008 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Ford hopes that the Expedition EL XLT will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
